Hello, Facebook, and Props [Monday
June 28th, 2010 at 12:06am]

[ mood | bouncy ]

 Hello all.

First, I would like to point out that I am a LJ newb, so I have absolutely no friends. (Add me plz?)

Second, if you're not already a member of the group on Facebook, Cosplay in Texas is there for you to join! www.facebook.com/ <-- That link should work. (Hopefully. Tell me if it doesn't.)

Lastly, my best friend and I are thinking of making small scale cosplay props for a tiny profit. For examples, just click on my LJ page. None of my journals are locked and the post with pictures of our currently finished props should be very close to the top.

That's all I want to bug you guys with!

Here's all of the photos I took at afest in Dallas during Labor Day Weekend. I used a friend's camera.

I gotta say, I'm not that satisfied with this set, especially after all that I did at AX, but I will still be honored if any of you that I photographed decide to take them. Thanks to all of you great cosplayers for making this convention awesome!

Hey fellow San Anotonio peoples. [Saturday
July 14th, 2007 at 2:44pm]

[ mood | chipper ]

I'm trying to form a group here in San Antonio where we can perform, cosplay, sew, and everything else together. At the moment, I only have two other people interested. Right now, I'm not quite sure when we're trying to meet, but I do want to meet at the Ingram Mall.

We don't even have an official name yet, but we'd like to have people join our group anyway. There's no website or forum yet, much less an LJ community since it's still in the brainstorming department.

In any case, I'm just asking if there's anyone who's interested in joining a group down here since there isn't one that I know of unless I'm blind. >>

Be in the World's Biggest Hug! [Wednesday
September 20th, 2006 at 5:26pm]

You heard me right! This is a perfectly cool way to hug random strangers! I bet you've always wanted to be in the record books but didn't know how. Here's your chance! The City of Schertz, Texas is hosting a September Showcase of local businesses and to prove the motto of "The Friendly City," are trying to beat the world record for the largest hug! The event is on September 30th at the municipal complex off of Schertz Parkway (1400 Schertz Parkway, Schertz, TX 78154). It's from 10am-4pm and the hug will start around 12:00pm and last until 2:30pm. San Japan will have a booth in the nonprofit organization section, so make sure to stop by and say hi! As usual, we'll have preregistrations for the discounted price of $25 and hold some raffles for some awesome prizes!

There's also a few contests during the hug. One of the categories is "largest group/club or organization in uniform." Our uniform shall be cosplay! From the aerial photo of the hug, I want to see a big section of cosplayers! Tell your friends and let's go in style into the record books and win that prize! Of course, no weapons, one because you'll make my family friend, the assistant chief of the police department, very, very sad, and two, how can you hug someone while holding onto a sword/staff/etc.?

See ya'll out there on the 30th!

Hey!!! I was wondering if anyone in the Dallas area was interested in a few cosplay groups to join. I'm in desperate need of some people who are committed to sticking to the cosplay group too, and not backing out last second, and also not afraid to perform in front of people.

~Hello!Project Cosplay Group (Morning Musume ect.)

If you're interested in any of these groups, go ahead and get in contact with me, you can leave a comment and I'll get back to you :D Thank so much!!!

Video: A-Kon 17 - Pirates, Ninjas, and Anime [Sunday
August 20th, 2006 at 4:28pm]

YouTube links, Part One and Part Two:
Dallas, Texas
June 2 - 4, 2006
62.5 Megs
15 mins, 51 secs

Sadly, this video is only half as long as most previous videos. This is due to the fact that many events were not allowed to be filmed, as well as a slightly lacking series of exciting events made available to film. Please also forgive the digital garbage along the sides of some of the scenes as part of the tape had been eaten by the camera.

With that in mind, here's what the video DOES include:
Video rooms, arcade, KAOS room, tabletop gaming, Para Para performances, makeshift raves, cosplay events, dealers room, and more.

Here's hoping that next year will give us a far bigger and better video. Thanks to all donators. Your recognition is in the credits!

Also, you see that phone number with Greg's introduction? Yes, that's his real phone number.

San Japan Pre-anniversary! [Wednesday
July 5th, 2006 at 10:30am]

SJ invades SA! We're now one year out from the only San Antonio anime convention! We know you're home bored, waiting with anticipation. We don't want to disappoint! In celebration, we're hosting a pre-anniversary bash! On Saturday, July 15th, meet us in front of the IMAX theater at Rivercenter Mall at 9:30am. We recommend parking at the Rivercenter's parking garage. As usual, cosplay is encouraged, but DO NOT BRING WEAPONS OF ANY KIND, REGARDLESS OF IT BEING FAKE OR REAL. We don't want SAPD to take up your well crafted weapons or arrest you or some such. Also keep in mind it's in the middle of Texas' summer, so temperatures will be hot, more than likely reaching high 90s to the 100s. Make sure you are properly covered but don't wear anything too heavy. We don't want you passing out from heat exhaustion! At 10am we'll start a tour of downtown SA. We plan to visit the Alamo, Riverwalk, Hemisfair Park, and the Towers of the Americas. After this, we'll return to Rivercenter Mall for lunch (bring money for lunch and shopping!). After lunch it'll be shopping (Sanrio store! ) and gaming (DDR is there!) inside the Riverwalk Mall. As usual, we'll be taking preregistration for the special discount rate of $25! Think the day's over and done yet? Of course not! We're renting out the pool at Woodland Oaks for a night of fun, starting at 8:30pm and ending at 10:30pm! We'll have games with prizes (DVDs and more, graciously donated by ADV Films), music, and so much more! Only 60 people will be able to attend the pool party, so call Keri at (512) 769-5520 or e-mail conchair@san-japan.org to reserve your spot and get directions! First come, first serve! You will be responsible to bring your own food and drink to the party (no alcohol or glass allowed). We hope to see you there!

Hey, does anybody here speak Japanese? Like almost fluently, if you heard people talking you could translate? because I found a news report in Japanese about A-Kon 15 on YouTube and I'd really like to know what it says if possible.

Here's the video

I think they're talking about American cosplayers, but the part I'm especially curious about is from about 2:45-3:45.

If this is asking too much, I apologize! I just am really curious (I'm among the cosplayers and I'm shocked enough about that).

Can anybody help me out?

I need advice [Friday
May 26th, 2006 at 8:46pm]

I am considering cosplaying again at A-Kon (two weeks away? or is it just one? ack.)

Anyway, my friend got a cute lolita-style outfit, lime green, and she wants me to dress up with her. I am short on cash but I do have a Dorothy costume I don't use anymore. I am kind of sad at the idea of not having it anymore, but do you think I could alter it somehow to make a loli style outfit?

I have no idea where to start so any suggestions or pictures of a good design would be greatly appreciated.

here's a picture of my Dorothy costume

Help me please!

Hello! ^_^ I'm new to this community and just wanted to introduce myself. I go by Kawaiianna and I've been a cosplayer for about 3 years now. I started off with anime cosplay, then moved to video game cosplay, and now I'm doing my first Jrock cosplay!
